There is an art to having a perfect pair of lips. Lately, all we can hear about is Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner when referring to the perfect pout. The easy fix is to do as they did and get some filler. If you’re interested in the more natural route, there is plenty you can do with just a great lipstick and lip liner. Yes, there are some who are born with a great pucker, but for those of us who aren’t as blessed, here are a few helpful tips.
IF YOU HAVE THIN LIPS
If your lips are thin, it’s better to stick to lighter shades. Nudes will create the illusion that your lips are fuller. Outline your lips using a lip liner that is half a shade darker than your lipstick. Apply the liner just slightly outside the lip line, don’t go too overboard or it will look obvious.
IF YOU HAVE FULL LIPS
Having full lips is, of course, a personal preference. Some find their lips are too full. If that’s the case, stick to everyday colors. An everyday color should look similar to your natural lip color. You can skip lip liner altogether unless your lips need that added definition. If so, then apply your lip liner just inside the lip line.
IF YOU HAVE UNEVEN LIPS
Perhaps your upper lip is much thinner than your bottom lip or vice-versa. In this situation, you have to correct them to look the same. If your upper lip is thinner, apply your lip liner just outside the lip line. If the bottom lip is the fuller one, then apply the liner just inside the lip line. Voila! They’re even! Go for colors that are bright or bold so your lips stand out more.
IF YOU HAVE PERFECT LIPS
Congratulations! You’re one of the few who ended up with lips that are naturally a great shape and size. Both upper and bottom lip are even, and neither have to look bigger or smaller. Easy! Find a lip liner that is the same color as your natural lip color. Outline your lips right on the lip line. This will add some definition. Color in your lips with the liner but avoid the center. Apply a clear gloss and you’re all set! This works as a great every day but don’t be shy about trying anything from nudes to bolds. The only thing you have to worry about is choosing the perfect color for your skin tone.
